I am in urgent need of serious dental work. Due to my pregnancies being so close together and the medications I was on my teeth have become in serious need of work. We cannot afford to get it done without my children having to suffer so I suffer day to day. I need 1 tooth pulled and several fixed. I cannot find a dentist any where around us that is willing to help or work with us on costs. I would be ever so grateful for any help. I would give anything to be able to truly smile in our next family photo or for my children to look at my smile and say how pretty mommy... anything. My oldest daughter is now in school and I want her to be proud of her mommy not embarrassed

Unfortunatly with her having 5 children, she would have to have 3 jobs , 2 just to put the ones not old enough for school into daycare around here. Most daycares around my area code 37086, charge $150 for babies, $120 to $135 for toddler that are not potty trained, $110 to $115 for potty trained, and $79 for before and after school care. That is a week. That is why I had to quit my job before my youngest started school. They dropped my hours and I was attending school myself. I had to borrow money to pay for the last week and gas due to my job only giving me 8 hours that week. The next babysitter I found, she was nice but she found a job and then quit after I dropped out, she also allowed her baby to look at porno magazines.  I had to drop out of my fall semester classes. I had one day to find a new sitter. I had no luck. So I felt God pulled me out because that was not the place my child needed to be. Now I wish her the best of luck.

Go for it.  I think you would make a great teacher or counselor.  Children need more role-models like yourself.

Best wishes,

Thank you. I do agree that children having children needs to be stopped. My daughter does not want children. She has also been taught that she needs to wait until married before having sex. My boys are taught the same. We will continue to remind them until then. I also am greatful for Internet. They show the various STD's and what happens to the private areas that are affected. My 10 yr old, said he probably wont even if he was married. I explained to him and my daughter if we had the access when I was younger and was shown thoes pictures, I would have become a nun.  I have a friend that has 6 children. 4 by her ex, 2 of thoes are twins. He has custody, 1 by date rape, and 1 a 1 night stand. I chewed her out about it. My sister-in-law is catholic and they do not believe in BC. They believe in body temp and natural ways. I told her stick a penny between her knees and told my brother to go to the bathroom and leave her alone. She is now on number 5 and I think this time it will be 5 and 6. I studied psychology and wanted to be a child psychologist. I have been through so much and was told by my children's friends and their teachers I have a natural talent. I get too emotionally involved with them to continue to study for this field. So I think I will be a teacher. Or just a school councelor. I know they do not make much money but that is what I am happy with.

I am not sure if you are near Nashville or not, but Innerfaith has a long waiting list. 5 to 6 months. Matthew Walker Comprehinsion Center deals with teeth and other medical needs. You have to have an appointment, or can walk in at 7 am. I do know that for them to pull a tooth, the cost starts at $25 depending on your income bracket. Meharry Medical has dental students that will work on teeth, Not sure on their price. TSU has dental hygenitst that will clean your teeth. That starts at a $10 first time cost and then for x-rays, deep cleaning , and medications have other costs as well. They are always needing patients. During the summer they clean children's teeth. I believe children's fees are waived. My sister is fixing to graduate from there. If she did not attend there I would never have known about it. There are not any agencies in Tennessee that I have found that will help with a normal dentist. We were referred to one by the school and he wanted to do the cleaning for $171 a quadrant, and $128 for the medication per quad. For thoes who dont know, you have 4 sections of your mouth top and bottom are split into two sections. He also wanted to fill 3 cavities for $115 apeice. That totals to $1541 . For me he wanted to charge $204 to extract a tooth. I have one that is broke. and one that died because of a wisdom tooth . Even when my husband was making good money, we did not have the extra for the teeth. His job did not offer Dental Insurance and the health insurance for family, that would have required a second job to pay for it. Hopefully They will come up with a better and easier aquired plan for people to afford. If you want the phone numbers send me an e-mail and I will send them too you. Good Luck.

Dear SilverWolfAngel's,

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved ones.  Please give your family my condolences.

I am so very glad that you & your hubby take care of your children.  I am so sorry to hear that your husband is having such a hard time right now.  The loss of a mother is horrendous.  It is understandable what he is going through.

I am also part Cherokee Indian.  My family served in the military (my grandfathers, my dad, my uncles, my cousins, myself, my husband, our sons, my nephew, my brother-in-law & even my mother-in-law).

To your question, No I am not saying your children should have been aborted.  No where on any of my posts will you find that I have ever said someone should be aborted.

I am sorry that you are having such a hardtime at the present.  We all go through difficult times.  Hardtimes does not discriminate, it touches us all.

Yet, I must point out that when I posted what I said, I was NOT TALKING to YOU.  I was replying to what someone said ('skytime').  For some reason, it seems that you think I was referring to you or something.  I was not.

And, I do stand by my original post.  Too many young people have children without any regard to how they are going to care for them.  Children DO cost money!  We have an epidemic of having babies left & right with a great many unmarried.  If we are going to have children we need to take care of them.  It is still the responsibility of whoever created that child to provide care for that child.  Too many men (and some women too) leave the child when the going get rough because the finances are tough. And, many of these people planned/tried to get pregnant without having any financial plan or thinking about the consequences.

I have had counseling sessions with girls as young as 11 years old telling me that they wanted a baby because someone at their school had one at age 10.  I have had clients to deliberately try to get pregnant (and did get pregnant).  These ladies had no education, no job, no way to care for the child.

I realize birth control does not work all the time.  However, if one find that they are fertile (after 2 or 3 kids) & if all else fails there are many other options.  Abstinence works VERY well, also.

I know what alot of people are thinking: 'its their body, they will have as many kids as they want too'.    They will say, it's their BUSINESS.  I totally agree it's their business.  And it is also THEIR business to TAKE CARE of them. Why make it somebody else's business when it comes to taking care of them!

I know firsthand, many unforseen events will happen to us in life.  My point is why make harder on ourselves than it has to be.  Women should get a skill, job & have a financial plan before hand.  Many women did have job,etc before having kids & they are having a hard time this day & age.  How much harder it will be for those who did not make any plans.

I certainly do hope & pray that things get better for you.  Trouble does not last always.

Everyone is welcomed to his or her own opinions, my dear. (Thank you very much, I do have them)

I find it heartless to bring a child into the world (to suffer) when one knows they cannot afford them. ( Mine do not suffer, and people have lives like rollercosters and we just happen to hit a down time due to the fact my husband just lost both parents within a year of each other and we have had to pay for both funerals.)

But, like I said everyone is entitled to their own opinions.  You have yours & I have mine. Opinions are just that (opinions).  However, the FACT is this:  whoever created that child, it is THEIR responsiblilty to care for that child. (We do take care of our children. If you met them, you may think different of them. They are our gems of the family. I am proud of them and blush all the time when they are commented on)

I realize their are some cases like death or severe illness, etc  that cause the child to have to be cared by & live with another.(After my husband's mother died in July, he started having mental problems, he believed he killed her, (she died due to ovarian cancer that we did not know about , she was disabled due to seisures due to an injury to the head when she was younger) She had cussed him out and told him to leave her alone and she could take care of herself. ( We needed a newer car to make the trips and could not visit like we used to) He just got out of the hospital and is on strong medication to keep the demons at bay and voices to a wisper. I studied about his condition and learned how to keep him in check before he started medications. I think my children have learned alot and are far from the normal statistics everyone expects them to be. God leads me and I follow. Yes at the moment I have bills that I owe , I failed out of college due to his mother passing and his break down. I was not able to study spanish and math like I should. My family and kids came first. My grandmother needed help. She still does. I was my grandfathers home care. I was greatful for the time I got to help him. I am ready for a change and having a hard time coming out of being a stay at home mom and finding someone who wants to hire me. They want someone with work experience and an education. Or thin and pretty with nice teeth, or younger that will work for less than I need to support my family at a fast food I have walked the work places, filled out applications and beat on doors asking them to give me a chance. I hope to hear soon. I wont hold my breath though. So please find out more about someone before you tell them what you did. I am sure toodles cried her eyes out after reading your response to her need and want for decent teeth. She did not ask for much. Just a beautiful smile for her girls. My husband lost a job once due to his teeth. So teeth are important in the work place.)

And, I more than deserve to be called an American.  My ancestors made this land what it is.  And I have served my country well in the United States Military. (My ancestors are Cherokee and Irish, my husband is Cherokee and German, My grandfather, both uncles and a few other members served the military. Same with my husbands father. I know what being American is about also. It was supposed to be for all who needed refuge and the poor to prosper. Telling people who want kids and dont always have the money to care for them at certain times of their life, that they should not have them, Maybe a factory closed, job was lost, car repoed or broke down, evicted, Ice storm hit and no water, sometime  had water and electricity but  no food. We always made sure the children had diapers and food, even if we did not.)

Also, may I ask, why are you blaming the government?  Did the government have your children? ( I am not blaming the government for my children. I am blaming them for other things that Americans are suffering for. Just watch the news more and read the newspaper or the internet. The things I hear and see sickens me and my family. )(Also are you saying that my children should have been aborted? Because they are a life as soon as they were created. I did not plan on having my children. My first was a NoraPlant baby.Yet she came to us. She was a twin, the boy was absorbed. I almost lost her when my mother was killed. After she was born I went back on NoraPlant. It almost killed me. They took it out before she was a year old. I tried for two years to have another child after my first child was 2 and when she turned 4, we had a dip in our rollercoster ride and I went on Birthcontrol. Four months later the doctor said surprise and I cried.  The same with my 3rd child. 4yrs on birthcontrol and Doctor said surprised. I called him a liar. Blood test said 5 weeks. My husband has had a vacectomy. No more for us. Thank God something worked. I have Polycystic ovarian Symdrom and endemetriosis. How I had children was a mystery to the doctors and a gift from God himself. Aparently he felt they deserved to be with me no matter my financial rollercoster situation. )

Goodnight! (Thank you and you have a blessed day and keep praying for the people who need the prayers.)

Yes, Kids are expensive.. I would not trade mine for all the teeth in the world. But my children are birth control babies and my husband finally was neutered as he fondly calls it. He is in bad shape with his teeth and will loose all of them soon due to bone loss.  There are no places around for assistance for teeth. The leading cause of heart attacks are due to bad teeth , poision from the decay gets into the blood stream and attacks the organs. No one can afford kids.. they are a gift from God, even if you are on BC.  The government feels that health benifits for the children are more important than for the ones who cares for them. If the caretakers get ill from bad health due to decaying teeth and die, and there are no other family members able to care for them guess who gets stuck with them. The Government of course. Yet they do not think of that, Save money and treat the parents at a low cost plan that is based on the amount of money they make. But until then please tell my children that they should not be alive because we are in a rough time and cannot afford our teeth cleaned. If you can tell them that then you are very heartless and do not deserve to be called an american. My children are in magnet schools with high IQ's They do not feel they should not be alive and wish to make peace for this world and love everyone they come across. Even if they are not liked because of their financial status. I have taught them skin is only a surface , soul and heart are deep within and that is where the love is and caring that will take this world and them to a higher place in life.

Hi 'Your Oxygen's',

Thank you for your comment.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.  You are entitled to yours & I am entitled to mine.

Speaking of God, it is He who tells us to seek 'wisdom'.  He wants us to be wise.  Read the old testament, especially proverbs.

You assume too much.  Just because a person make a comment that you don't like, you assume that person has never been in need.  Quite the opposite is true.  I have been through alot in life.  So many of us on aidpage have gone through many tribulations & we have had to pull ourselves us by the 'bootstrap & keep going'.

Sympathy, while it is nice, does not help a person to better themselves.  I did not better me & it won't better anyone else.  On the other hand, things like action, common sense, etc will help.  And, yes, prevention also goes along way. In life there are many sorrows that we cannot prevent.  However, the things that we can we should at least try too.

Thank you for praying for God to 'correct my vision', as you said.  And, at the same time I will be praying for you that God gives you 'comprehension' & 'wisdom'.

Also, when I made that post, I do not recall talking to you! That was a conversation between I & someone else.

Have a nice day

What is wrong with you people? I agree whole heartedly with Ekika!

TOODLES is 25 with 5 kids! And now she wants someone to pay for her dental care? Yet, you have the audacity to condemn Ekika for saying something that should have probably been said a long time ago? WTF is wrong with you? Ekika is right! If you cannot afford children, DON'T HAVE THEM!

I will vouch for Ekika, not one of you has the right to condemn her. She gave a COMMON SENSE answer - which apparently few people seem to have today.

Before you condemn me - which I personally don't care if you do- I am a single mother of 2 children. Their father left because he is a crack addict. I work full time and have health care - including dental benefits.  I cannot afford more kids so do you know what I do? I DON'T HAVE SEX!!! It's called self control! Wake up people!  A little common sense goes a very long way.

Forgive me please but maybe you just cannot read. Why don't you take the time to read something before you respond to it and then you wouldn't appear to be such a ...... well, I'll just leave it at that. May God Bless You and correct your vision impairment. Also, may you never be in a situation where you need help from someone, but course we all know you would have previously taken preventive measures to not ever in your entire life be in need of anything.

How dare you!!!!   What are you some kid and you live with mommy and daddy and they pay for your health care!  Do you have any idea what it costs to have any kind of dental work done!  Having insurance doesn't do anything in most cases, they have a yearly maximum, which is like 1500. if you have a family you can exceed that 1500. in no time.  Get over yourself!

Good point!

Kids are very expensive.  If one can AFFORD them, then by all means have as many as one like.

However, it is the RESPONSIBILITY of those who 'had that sex act' & 'created that child' to take care of that child.

It's not the government responsibility. Its not their family or friends responsibility. Its not 'other people' responsibility. It is the ones who 'created' the child responsiblilty to CARE for the child.

If one cannot afford children, then simply don't have them.  There are many birth control methods out there.  And if the methods don't seem to be working for a person then ABSTINENCE will.

Being responsible on the 'front end' will save one alot of problems & heartaches on the 'back end' of a situation.

best wishes

I am a 58 year old New Yorker who is disabled and living on a very fixed income. I used to have dentures, but they have completely broken beyond repair (they were over fifteen years old). I have recently received two estimates for dental work including a new set of dentures. One is for $3,000.00 and the other is for $2,650.00(this being an estimate from the NYU school of Dentistry). They are both way out of my league, as I can barely make ends meet from month to month for living necessities. I only have four teeth and I'm diabetic. This makes it impossible to eat salads and certain fruits needed for my diet. It is virtually impossible for me to eat meats. The only soft items to eat are all the wrong things for my diet. It has been so embarassing for me, that I don't even go out in public anymore for shame of the way my mouth looks. Is there anyone out there who knows where I may be able to get some help for this matter?!?

I am 23 and during and after my pregnancy my teeth have chipped, broken well, they have basically almost completely fallen out.  I am afraid to smile, laugh, or even talk to most people because I don`t want to be judged or be made fun of.  My little boy is three and I can`t really get down and play with him like i want to because last time he barely kicked me in the mouth and broked over half of my front tooth out thats the one I worry about the most.  I am married and my teeth are causing problems in my marriage. when my husband tries to kiss me I just push him away because I am so embarressed and afraid that one of my teeth might fall out.  He thinks that I am not interested in him anymore because of it.  But, I am to ashamed to tell him the real reason.  I wil not even go out to eat in public because if I bite into something my tooth will break a little bit more so I have to cut everything into little pieces just so I can eat.  My teeth are ruining my life and I don`t health insurence and I can`t afford it even if it gets offered to me.  So, I don`t know what else to do but to ask for help.

Hey Margery, Did you know that you can get your teeth fixed or pulled and replaced for a fraction of what it would cost by calling the nearest dental school. They do exceptional work and it's garanteed. I don't know where you live but please check it out, there's always a school close by. Good Luck Ruby

HI I am in the same boat as you I pay $140 per month for medicare with a advatage program inc. drug coverage. It is shameful that there are so many of us with this problem in the United States .Being on medicare we should get the same coverage as the boys in Washington .I bet they dont worry about being able to eat or how they look or if an infection in a tooth will end up killing them.I am sorry to say here in Tn. is no better than NC. there is no help . If I find any I will be posting it asap . Will4 If we all got together and file a class action suit on medicare and each state in the union mabe we could at least get noticed but I doubt I have that much fight in me I have just about given up

I am at my wits end about what to do, I take ibuprofen everyday to help with the pain. I have two wisdom teeth that need to come out and a few that need fillings, one of the wisdom teeth is broke off to the gum and the other one is doing the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to sound as though I am prejudice but it seems that the government is there to help others out before our own. I have seen it for myself that the mexicans come into our state (Iowa) and get assistance with no hastles. We pay our taxes so were is the government when we need it. Sorry but someone has to say it.

I am 41 yrs old and disabled. Medicare doesnt cover dental and I have finally been able to get dental thru my wifes work. The problem is that I have to have money for the deductible and dont. 11 teeth on top need to be surgicaly removed and 2 crowns on the bottom. And that is before the upper plate and the lower partial. I served 12 years in the National Guard and if I had been Army I would have been covered by the VA. My brother had assistance thru the VA even after going AWOL from the army with 6 months left in his tour. There's something wrong with that! Please is there anyone that can direct me on where to get the finincial help that is needed so I can smile with confidence again. I have 2 kids and I make sure they dont make the mistakes with their teeth as I did, Thank You, Terry

I am in urgent need to receive help with getting my teeth fixed. I worked as a weaver for 30 years, and in hosiery and furniture for about 4 years. Iwas in a car accident in 1997, and have not been able to work since the accident. I have had 15 surgeries since my accident. I also had breast cancer in 2003. I had to go thru chemo(which I think may have damaged my teeth) for 6 mo. and 33 radiation treatments. The chemo made me deathly sick. i have been on disability since then. my husband is also on disability. He has had 4 serious back surgeries since 1992. He lives in constant cronic pain. After we both worked all these years and paid in our social security, now we cannot get any help and we cannot afford any medical care except what we have with medicare. We have no dental insurance ,so I cannot afford to get my teeth fixed. My husband also needs new dentures because he has no bottom dentures and his top dentures are worn down. WHERE is our goverment and what are they doing to help here in the states ?. I live in NC. WHY can our government help all these other countries and we cannot get help with our medical problems? I have more medical bills than you can even imagine, and now I desperately need my teeth fixed and cannot find assistance anywhere. If anyone knows of any programs close or around Hickory,NC ,please let me know. God bless all of you and have a nice day. ALICE from Taylorsville,NC

I am a 42 year old female that had braces in the late 70's - early 80's they were the new type that was glued onto the teeth. I have always taken care of my teeth, but in the last couple of years, having NO Dental Insurance my teeth are decaying faster than I can afford to have them fixed. I have several broken, part of tooth missing in front. I am to the point of having them all removed and get false teeth. I can't afford that either, unless I get some assistance financially. I have been having health problems and feel it is all related to my dental problems/decay. Help, if you can, or send me in the right direction.

Hello, My name is Lynn, I'm 51 years old and a single mom of a 25 year old. I haven't smiled for 20 years because I've been too ashamed to show my teeth. I used to be told my smile was shaped like a heart. Do you know how truly horrible it is to grin for all the happiness would normally bring a smile. I cover my mouth when I laugh, which isn't much latley. If there is anyone or any organization that could help I would...hmmm there are no words to describe what it would mean to me.

Dear Toodles, I too have had the same problems. And after years now am having to have them all pulled and get dentures. If you go on the internet, there are churches that have free dental clinics once a month. But they only do extractions. Good Luck.
